The original film, Cloverfield, released in 2008, introduced many to the genre of documentary, a pseudo-documentary filmed in the first person. In it, the main characters, the young people of New York, faced a huge monster that came from the ocean. Now the Hollywood Reporter has announced that a full-fledged sequel has been launched.
At the same time, officially, “Monstro” already has two spin-offs, films “Cloverfield, 10” and “Cloverfield Paradox”, which are associated with the first tape of the general universe, but are not direct sequels.
The new film will become a full-fledged sequel and will no longer be shot in the style of a first-person camera. The script will be written by Joe Barton, Ritual screenwriter, and showrunner of the Batman spin-off series about the Gotham Police.
The original tape was directed by Matt Reeves, who is currently busy with the new “Batman” with Pattinson. The sequel to “Monstro” will be produced by JJ Abrams again. The sequel has no director yet.
