The director of the famous Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Gore Verbinski, was supposed to be filming a sci-fi shooter BioShock in 2008, but the project was scrapped before filming began due to high costs and an R (18+) rating. After that, neither the alleged actors nor the list of roles was named. However, known for his role as Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Eddie Redmayne revealed that he auditioned for one of the roles.

Back in 2008, Eddie Redmayne rented an apartment with actor Jamie Dornan, whom many know for his leading role in the melodrama “50 Shades of Gray”. It turned out that both actors auditioned for the same role in BioShock and were furious when they accidentally found out about it. It is unknown how far both actors got on the audition, and Redmayne also did not say which role he auditioned for.

Gore Verbinski has been trying to film the game since 2008 but has never found support from the studio.
