Adani Data Network Limited (ADNL), the company of Asia’s richest man Gautam Adani, has got a unified license for telecom services. That is, now this company has been able to provide all the telecom services in the country. Adani Group entered the telecom sector after buying spectrum in the recently held 5G spectrum auction in the country.
License granted on Monday
The Adani Group, while entering the telecom sector, had said that it is planning to use the airwaves for super apps along with its data centers. Which will support the retail sale of gas from power distribution to airports and ports. According to PTI, two official sources related to the matter have said that Adani Data Networks has been given UL (AS). The report said that the license has been given to the Adani Group on Monday.
Direct competition with Mukesh Ambani?
Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, both industrialists come from Gujarat. Till now both the groups have been working in different sectors. And there is no direct competition between them. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Group operates from oil, refinery and petrochemicals to telecom and retail sectors.
At the same time, the Adani group is in the port, coal, green energy, power distribution and aviation sectors. But in recent times, while Adani Group has entered the petrochemical sector, Reliance Group has also entered the green energy sector. Now the entry of Adani Group in the telecom sector is the first direct competition between the two.
Tough competition will be seen in the telecom sector
In this regard, no official announcement has been made by the Adani Group yet. Gautam Adani’s company, ready to provide telecom services, will now be able to expand its 5G services after getting this license. Along with this, companies like Jio (JIO), Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, already existing giants in this sector, are going to get tough competition.
Bought spectrum for Rs 212 crore
It is worth noting that the Adani Group had bought 400 MHz spectrum for 20 years for Rs 212 crore during the recently concluded 5G spectrum auction. With this purchase, Gautam Adani entered the telecom sector of the country by buying spectrum in the auction. However, at that time it was being said by the company that it would use this spectrum for business activities within the group.
Ambani has spent the most
Let us tell you, Mukesh Ambani-led company Reliance Jio Infocomm (Reliance Jio) was at the fore in the race to buy 5G spectrum by spending Rs 88,078 crore. Whereas, Bharti Airtel has spent Rs 43,084 crore at number two, while Vodafone Idea is at the third position by spending Rs 18,799 crore.
