Not giving charger with smartphone has become a trend now. It was started by Apple and now companies like Google, Samsung to Xiaomi are also not giving chargers with their phones. Now this decision of Apple has cost him dearly. Apple has been fined $ 20 million, or about Rs 164 crore, for selling an iPhone without a charger in Brazil.
A judge in a Brazilian court has said that Apple has forced customers to buy an additional product by not providing a charger with the iPhone. Earlier last month, Apple was fined about $ 2.5 million separately by Brazil’s Ministry of Justice for the same issue. Apple started not providing chargers with the iPhone 12 from October 2020. Apple has also been fined similarly in France.
Earlier, even before the launch of Apple’s iPhone 14 series, Brazil had given a big blow to Apple. Last month, the Brazilian government ordered the sale of iPhones without chargers across the country to stop. Apart from this, the Brazilian government has also imposed a fine of about Rs 18 crore on Apple for not providing the charger with the iPhone.
Just last week, the European Union said that by the end of 2024, all devices will be provided with a single charger, which will be a Type-C port. Apple will suffer the biggest loss of this decision, because Apple will have to make changes in the design of all its products.
