Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has given a big statement regarding wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson. He has said that Samson will be included in the ODI squad against South Africa. Samson is not a part of the T20 series. He was not even selected for the T20 World Cup. The ODI series will begin on October 6 in Lucknow.
Ganguly said in Thiruvananthapuram, “Sanju is playing well. He has played for India, but missed the T20 World Cup. He is in the plans of the Indian team. Samson is part of the ODI squad against South Africa. He has also done well in IPL. He is also the captain.” Samson was with the team in the tour of West Indies as well as Zimbabwe.
Samson can also be made the vice-captain. Senior players can be rested for the ODI series. At the same time, Shikhar Dhawan can take over the command of the team. Actually, the Indian team has to leave for Australia for the T20 World Cup next month. Before that, all the players included in the World Cup team can be given a break. At the same time, the superstars of domestic cricket including Sanju Samson may return to the team.
The selectors had announced the team for the T20 series long ago, but then they did not announce the team for the ODI series. In the next few days, the Indian selectors can also announce the team for the ODI series. Samson has played seven ODIs and 16 T20Is for India.
