Two armed attackers opened fire at the training ground of the Russian army, in which 11 people were killed. This training was taking place at the Belgorod Ground near the Ukrainian border.
According to the state news agency RIA, during weapons training, two men opened fire on a group that was volunteering to fight the war in Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the attackers were citizens of a country in the former Soviet Union. However, not much information was given about them.
In retaliatory firing, the soldiers killed both the attackers.
15 people have been injured in this attack.
The RIA quoted the Defense Ministry as saying, “The volunteers were being given weapons training to join the special military operation (against Ukraine) when the terrorists attacked the people of the unit.”
The ministry said, “11 people have died in this firing and another 15 people who were very seriously injured have been sent to the hospital.”
Claims about attackers
Last month, the Russian president told about three lakh people who have been in the military before, or have trained in it, to be ready for battle.
After this order, there was a stir in many areas of Russia and there were protests. People from many cities left Russia and started fleeing to other countries.
In early October, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that more than two lakh people wanted to join the mission.
Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said in an interview that the attackers were from the Central Asian country of Tajikistan and opened fire after an argument in the name of religion.
Tajikistan is a Muslim-majority country while more than half of the people of Russia follow Christianity with different beliefs.
According to the news agency Reuters, about 65,000 Russians have been killed since the start of the war in February by Ukraine’s president. This figure is 10 times higher than the official figure of Russia. According to the official statistics of Russia, this figure is 5937. At the same time, in August, America had claimed that 70 to 80 thousand soldiers of Russia have been damaged in the war so far. These include both wounded and dead soldiers.
