HUL Godrej Consumer cut Lifebuoy Lux and Godrej No 1 soap prices by up to 15 percent know the new rate tutd

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), FMCG companies that make daily use products, have cut prices of some brands of their soaps. Due to the fall in the rate of raw materials, companies have reduced the prices of some soaps. Soap prices have come down by up to 15 per cent. Due to the reduction in prices, the sales of these products may increase in the second half.

Prices of Lifebuoy and Lux ​​reduced

Hindustan Unilever Limited has cut the prices of its popular soap brands Lifebuoy and Lux. The prices of both these soaps have been cut by 5 to 11 percent. This deduction has been done in the western region. At the same time, Godrej Consumer Products, a unit of the Godrej Group, has reduced the prices of its soap brand Godrej No-1 by 13 to 15 percent. Experts believe that due to the reduction in prices, there will be an increase in sales in the second half of the current financial year.

At present, the retail inflation rate in the country remains above the target set by the Reserve Bank. Inflation was at 7 per cent in the month of August. The figures for the month of September are yet to come. A major reason for the cut in soap prices is the fall in global prices of palm oil and other raw materials. Sameer Shah, CFO, Godrej Consumer Products said, “With the reduction in product prices, GCPL is one of the first FMCG companies to pass on the benefit of reduction in prices to consumers.”

Godrej No.-1 pack will be available in how much?

He said, ‘Specifically, GCPL has reduced the prices of soaps by 13 to 15 percent. We have reduced the price of a bundle pack (five units of 100 grams each) of Godrej No-1 soap from Rs 140 to Rs 120. A Hindustan Unilever spokesperson told PTI, “Prices have been cut for Lifebuoy and Lux ​​in the West zone. The prices of these soap brands have been reduced by 5-11 percent. The spokesperson said that there has been no price cut for other brands like Surf, Rin, Wheel and Dove.

Inflation increased the problem

FMCG companies have faced challenges of high retail inflation and slowdown in rural areas in September quarter 2022. These companies ramped up production of ‘bridge packs’, which are priced between the popular entry-level packs and larger packs.
