Lahore : Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday admitted that allowing former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for treatment was the “biggest mistake” of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. Sharif (72) is currently in London where he is undergoing treatment since November 2019. According to reports, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Sharif, the main opposition party, has heart-related problems apart from several ailments.

Imran was addressing a public meeting at Mandi Bahauddin in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Referring to Sharif’s health condition before allowing him to go abroad, he said his government felt that he would not be able to survive even a day. Imran said, ‘I admit today that we made the biggest mistake by allowing him (Nawaz) to go abroad.’

Imran’s popularity is falling in Pakistan
Imran’s rally was organized as part of an effort to counter the opposition. The opposition is trying hard to bring a no-confidence motion against him in Parliament and remove him from power. Imran has attacked his political rival at a time when according to a survey his (Imran’s) popularity has decreased in many areas of the country. Imran Khan may visit Russia in February. Recently, there was news that in view of the ongoing tension in Ukraine and Russia, Imran Khan may postpone his visit to Russia.

According to the news, Pakistan itself had sought the invitation of Russia for this tour. Pakistani media reports have also claimed that the proposed visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to Russia at this critical time may give a blow to his personal image. Not only this, in such a situation, Imran Khan will be labeled as pro-Russian, due to which the rest of the western countries including America can be angry.
