The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was greatly affected by the Corona epidemic. Last year’s IPL was played in two phases. The first stage was played on Indian soil. At the same time, due to many players being Kovid-19 positive, the remaining matches were held in UAE. There was a lot of uproar about the match played in India and a petition was also filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
Now the Supreme Court heard a petition filed last year. In this petition, there was a demand to direct Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah and the central government to ban IPL matches held in six cities of the country. The petition also sought criminal action against Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah for organizing IPL matches and risking their lives during Kovid.
After examining the whole matter, the Supreme Court refused to hear further, giving relief to the BCCI. Chief Justice of India UU Lalit believed that this petition has no meaning. UU Lalit also said that IPL 2021 was organized in the biobubble and a lot of care was taken about the players.
The hearing of the entire matter took place in the Supreme Court like this:
Advocate Shrikant Prasad- This petition was filed during Kovid.
CJI- Why should the permission to organize IPL be withdrawn?
CJI- You are right there was a lockdown. Today we cannot consider that issue because the lockdown is over. In your petition it has been said that the IPL should be banned completely.
bench- You are saying that prosecute those who conducted IPL. The petition has no meaning. We see no reason to interfere.
counselor- It has to be seen why IPL was done?
CJI- As far as I know IPL matches are conducted in biable and great care is taken. Yes, despite this some players were infected. This was the permission given by the concerned authorities. There was no activity at one time, but then it was relaxed later.
bench- We cannot listen to it.
CSK won the title
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the title of IPL 2021. In the final match played in Dubai, CSK defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs. Where Dhoni’s team was successful in winning the IPL title for the fourth time. At the same time, KKR’s dream of winning the title for the third time was shattered.
