Nitish Rana appointed captain

Delhi’s preparation for the new season cannot be said to be good as the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has appointed Abhay Sharma as the new coach just 10 days ago. Also, IPL’s star player Nitish Rana has been made the captain of the team in place of Pradeep Sangwan. Head coach Abhay Sharma is aware of these current challenges.

“We had less preparation time but we were able to improve the atmosphere. I have spoken to all the players and all are ready to make an impact from the opening match. We organized a session yesterday to unite the team. It was attended by everyone including senior players. We have created such an environment so that some additional responsibility can be given to the experienced players.

Ishant enjoying extra responsibility: Abhay

When asked about the mistakes of the last season, he said, “This is my first session and I don’t want to talk about the past. We can learn from him. If we can control the pace of the game by playing our respective roles better, then we will be in a better position. On Ishant’s presence, he said that he is the most experienced bowler in the team and is enjoying the extra responsibility assigned to him.

The coach further said, ‘We have given a certain role to Ishant and he is really helping all the bowlers. He is the only Indian fast bowler after Kapil Dev to play in 100 Tests. He can read situations better than anyone. On the other hand, World Cup winning India Under-19 captain Yash Dhul is also ready to make his T20 debut. Yash Dhul showed a great game in the last season.
