Israel Pakistan Military Exercise: Israel Participates In Military Exercise With Saudi Arabia & Pakistan In International Maritime Exercise

The Israeli Navy has confirmed that it has participated in US-led exercises with Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and some other countries that do not have diplomatic relations with the Jewish country. The US Navy said in a statement on Thursday that more than 9,000 people from 60 armies took part in the International Maritime Exercise (IMX) that began on January 31.

Participants included Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Comoros, Djibouti, Somalia and Yemen, which do not have diplomatic relations with Israel. Several countries that Israel has recently normalized relations with – such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain – also participated in the exercise. The report said that Bahrain is a close ally of the US and hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

Appreciation of growing ties between navies
The US Navy said the biennial exercise was launched in 2012 and has become the “largest multinational naval exercise in the Middle East”. Israeli media reported that it was the country’s first participation in military exercises with countries that do not have diplomatic relations with the state. The Chief of the US 5th Fleet, Admiral Brad Cooper, also commended the growing relationship between the two navies.

“This joint exercise demonstrates our determination to protect international law and order,” Cooper said. This is a special opportunity to expand our interoperability to strengthen our naval ties. This naval exercise between Pakistan and Israel remains a matter of discussion.
