An official reply has been given by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the statement of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. Jay Shah had said on Tuesday that Team India will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and the Asia Cup will be held at a neutral venue. Now the PCB has said that such a statement is against the rules, a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council should be called immediately regarding this.
On Wednesday, a statement was issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board that the Pakistan Cricket Board is shocked and disappointed by the statement of Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah. The statement made by Jay Shah to shift the Asia Cup to the neutral venue is condemnable. This statement is a pity without talking to any board member, without even discussing it with the host. Which can have huge consequences.

The PCB said in its statement that after a long discussion and support in the meeting of the Asian Cricket Council, it was decided that the Asia Cup will be held in Pakistan, but now Jay Shah’s statement is a violation of these things. This is against the spirit with which the Asian Cricket Council was formed in 1983.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has threatened that such statements can create tension in Asian cricket countries and international cricket relations and divide the countries into factions. Apart from this, it can also affect Pakistan’s 2023 ODI World Cup to be held in India or other cricket matches to be held till 2031. The Pakistan Cricket Board has demanded that a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council be convened immediately in this regard, as no clarification has been given by the President of the Asian Cricket Council, Jay Shah or his office, so far.
What did Jay Shah say?
Let us tell you that apart from being the secretary of the BCCI, Jay Shah is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council. After the AGM meeting of BCCI, Jay Shah had said that Team India will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, the Asia Cup will be held at a neutral venue. This statement of Jai Shah is a big setback for Pakistan.
There was no international cricket in Pakistan for a long time, now recently some teams have started going there. Teams like Australia, England, West Indies have toured Pakistan, but India has consistently opposed visiting Pakistan or playing bilateral cricket with it.
The political relationship between India and Pakistan is not good, its effect is also visible on cricket. Both the countries currently play against each other only in ICC tournaments. The two had met some time ago in the Asia Cup 2022, apart from this, in the T20 World Cup 2022, both will be face to face in Melbourne on 23 October.
