List of 10 best films of India released, know which films are included other than ‘Sholay’

The Bengali film ‘Pather Panchali’, directed by Satyajit Ray, tops this list. Released in 1955, the film starred Subir Banerjee, Kanu Banerjee and Karuna Banerjee.

Also in second place is the Bengali film ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’, which was released in 1960. Directed by Hrithik Ghatak, the film starred Supriya Choudhary, Anil Chatterjee and Geeta Ghatak in pivotal roles.

In third place was the Hindi film ‘Bhuvan Shome’, directed by Mrinal Sen. Utpal Dutt and Suhasini Mulay starrer this film was released in 1969.

The 1981 Malayalam film ‘Elipathayam’ is the fourth best film of India. Karmana Janardhan Nair and Sharda starrer this film was directed by Adoor Gopalakrishna.

Girish Kasaravalli’s directorial debut Kannada film ‘Ghathashraddha’ is the fifth best film, starring Meena Kuttappa, Ajith Kumar and Narayan Bhat in pivotal roles. This film came on screen in 1977.

The film ‘Garm Hawa’, released in 1973, is also included in this list. Balraj Sahni, Farooq Sheikh starrer This film is directed by M.S. Satya did it.

At number 7 is the Bengali film ‘Charulata’, which was directed by Satyajit Ray. Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhavi Mukherjee were in lead roles in this 1964 film.

Anant Nag, Shabana Azmi, Sadhu Meher and Priya Tendulkar starrer Ankur is the 8th best film directed by Shyam Benegal. The film was released in 1974.

Guru Dutt, Mala Sinha and Waheeda Rehman starrer ‘Pyaasa’ is at number 9 in the list. Released in 1957, the film was directed by Guru Dutt.
