Rajvardhan Hungergekar, who did wonders for India in the Under-19 World Cup, has been accused of age fraud. According to the Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra, his real age is 21 years, while he has officially declared his age as 19 years. Hungergekar was also a part of the Indian team in the Under-19 World Cup held in the West Indies earlier this year. He also impressed everyone with his game in this tournament. He was bought by the team of Chennai in IPL.

Hungergekar can consistently bowl at a speed of 140 kmph and can also hit big shots coming down the order. Due to his ability, he came into the limelight and he was being considered as the future of India, but serious allegations have been made against him and the BCCI will investigate the whole matter.

Hungergekar can play Ranji Trophy for the time being

No ban has been imposed on Rajvardhan Hungergekar at present. According to a report in Inside Sports, Hungergekar can play all kinds of matches for now, but the BCCI will investigate the matter. An official letter has also been written on behalf of Dharashiv to the BCCI, in which it has been said that his age is forged.

What is the whole matter?

According to Marathi newspaper Saamana, Bakoria has written a letter to the BCCI stating that Rajvardhan Hungergekar’s age is 21 years and not 19 years. According to school records, his date of birth is January 7, 2001, while the headmaster of Terna Public School changed his age to November 10, 2002. At this time Hungergekar was in the eighth grade.

Accordingly, when Hungergekar was selected in India’s Under-19 team. Then he was 21 years old and he was not eligible to play in this tournament. According to ICC rules, only players who are between 19 years and 15 years can play in the ICC Under-19 World Cup. It is not yet clear whether Hungergekar has got his age checked as per the BCCI standards.
