Indigenous carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has started testing its much-awaited electric SUV. The name of the new model could be Mahindra XUV 400. In India, this country car will compete with another country car Tata Nexon EV. Apart from this, this Mahindra car is also going to do two hands with cars like MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV. The XUV 400 will be Mahindra’s first electric car.
When will launch?
Mahindra eXUV300 concept was introduced at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company wanted to launch it in the year 2021-22 but due to the Kovid 19 pandemic, its launch has been postponed. The company has recently announced that it will be launched by the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022-23.
Based on MESMA Platform
The XUV 400 is the electric avatar of the company’s XUV 300. The company has developed an independent electric platform for its future electric cars. The XUV 400 will be the company’s first car to be based on the Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform. Models based on this platform will also go to select international markets.
Will get two battery packs
The eXUV300 concept has two battery pack options 380V and 350V. Its lower spec model will compete with the Tata Nexon EV. Whereas the Haier variant will compete directly with the MG ZS EV. This collision is going to be very interesting to watch.
