NEET 2021: Rank List Released With Major Changes, Students Will Have to Download Scorecard Again

NEET 2021: NEET Toppers 2021 has been declared along with the result on November 1, 2021. National Testing Agency, NTA has released the clarity on the ranking criteria and download of scorecards for the students.

National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a notification on its official website asking NEET 2021 candidates to download their scorecards again. In the notification issued, NTA has clarified that the agency has added a new field ‘NEET All India Rank’ in the scorecard in place of ‘All India Rank for Counselling’.
The NTA pointed out that the age limit was not taken into account in the tie-breaking criteria in the first rank list released earlier. Because of this, this year many candidates have been placed on the same rank including the top one. However, counselling requires a unique rank.
“The age limit was removed from the tie-breaking criterion while preparing the first ‘All India Rank for Counselling’. However, since unique ranks are required for the purpose of counselling, the second ‘All India Rank for Counselling’ has been removed. The age limit has been kept in mind while preparing the tiebreaking criteria.
NTA has mentioned “NEET All India Rank” in place of a new field ‘All India Rank’ for more clarity. Candidates, if they wish, can re-download their scorecard.

Candidates should note that till last year, NTA used to use age-factor as a criterion for tie-breaker in the medical entrance examinations. Candidates with higher age were given preference in the rank list. However, the agency has not used the tie-breaking criterion this year. Three students who have secured 720/720 marks in the entrance exam have been given AIR 1 in NEET 2021. 12 candidates have got AIR 5, while two each have been placed in AIR 17 and 19.
