The film ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has once again put the Chola Empire on the screen and it seems that this time the Cholas have come out to rule the box office. Mani Ratnam’s grand period drama film ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ released in theaters on 30 September and on the very first day the film made a worldwide gross collection of more than 80 crores.
Worldwide audiences flocked to see the Chola Empire on screen and the film’s worldwide gross exceeded Rs 300 crore even before the completion of a week of release. Thursday was the 7th day of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ in theaters and now a week’s earnings of the film have been revealed. In a single week, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has created a mountain of box office collections and has made many big records at the box office.
PS-1 earnings in a week
Thursday’s box office reports are telling that the film has collected around Rs 11.51 crore on the 7th day in India. As against Wednesday’s Rs 20.09 crore, there is definitely a drop in Thursday’s earnings, but that is because the film had good earnings due to Dussehra being on Wednesday. After adding Thursday’s earnings, the one-week India collection of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has gone up to Rs 183.96 crore.
good earning in hindi
Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ was a huge release in front of the Hindi version of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’. While ‘Vikram Vedha’ got more than 4000 screens, PS-1 was released on very limited screens. The Hindi version of the film collected only Rs 2 crore on the first day. But even in the middle of the week, the earnings of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ continued with equal speed and on Dussehra, the film collected more than the opening.
The amazing thing is that after a week, the collection of Hindi version of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ is more than the Telugu version. While ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has earned Rs 13.54 crore from Telugu in 7 days, the total collection of Hindi version is Rs 14.24 crore.
Ready to break ‘Vikram’ record
The worldwide gross of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ is going well ahead of Rs 300 crore after 7 days. Looking at the speed with which the film is earning, it is believed that its collection is going to be more than ‘Vikram’. Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahad Fazil starrer ‘Vikram’ is the biggest Tamil film of 2022 so far. It did a gross collection of around Rs 426 crore worldwide.
Looking at the box office pace of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’, it can be assumed that before the completion of two weeks of release, it can become the biggest film of the Tamil film industry in 2022.
