Ranji Trophy 2022, Sakibul Gani: Bihar’s Ranji cricketer Sakibul Ghani has created history. Sakibul Ghani has become the first cricketer in the world to score a triple century on his first class debut. Ghani achieved this historic feat during the Ranji Trophy match against Mizoram in Kolkata. 22-year-old Sakibul completed his triple century in 387 balls with the help of 50 fours.

Sakibul Ghani finally got out after scoring 341 runs. He was caught by Iqbal Abdullah at the hands of Taruvar Kohli. He hit 56 fours and two sixes in his innings of 405.

Earlier, the record of scoring the most runs on first class debut was in the name of Ajay Rajkumar Rohera. Rohera played an unbeaten 267 against Hyderabad team while playing for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018-19 Ranji season.

Born in Motihari

Born on 2 September 1999 in Motihari, Sakibul Ghani had earlier participated in 14 List-A and 11 T20 matches. In List-A matches, he has so far scored 337 runs at an average of 31.41, including one century and as many fifties. At the same time, in T20 matches, he has 192 runs in his name at an average of 27.42.

Great partnership with Babylon

Sakibul Ghani shared a 538-run partnership with Babul Kumar for the fourth wicket. Babul Kumar also scored a double century. The record for the highest partnership in first class cricket is held by Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Both the Sri Lankan batsmen had a partnership of 624 runs against South Africa in 2006.
