RGS Scholarship: Chance to Get Scholarship to Meritorious Students, the Cost of Studying Abroad Will Also Be of the Government, Know the Application Process

Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship: Under the RGS scheme, financial assistance will be provided to 200 meritorious students for studies at the undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and post-doctoral level from 50 reputed institutions of the world like Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford University. The entire expenses including the travel fare, tuition fees of the students will also be borne by the state government.

In order to provide the meritorious students the facility of higher studies in reputed foreign institutions, the Rajasthan government has started the RGS scheme i.e. ‘The Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence’ scheme in the state. Under this, the application process has also started. Interested eligible candidates will be able to apply online till November 05, 2021. Rajasthan’s Minister of State for Higher Education Bhanwar Singh Bhati said that the process of applying for this scholarship, which is given through the Higher Education Department, has started on October 22. For this, the online application can be made from 05 November till 12 midnight. For the application, the student must have a Janadhar or Bhamashah card provided by the Government of Rajasthan. 

Bhati informed that the students of the native of Rajasthan, who have received the admit card for the study in the session 2021-22 in the 50 universities listed under the RGS scheme, will be eligible for this. The application can be made by logging in with your SSO ID under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence’ available on Department’s website http://hte.rajasthan.gov.in. Information related to scholarship, other points, and rules is available on the departmental website. Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford are also under the ambit

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced this scheme on August 20, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The department quickly made detailed rules and implemented this scheme from this session. Under this, financial assistance will be provided to 200 meritorious students for studies at undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD, and post-doctoral levels from 50 reputed institutes of the world like Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford University. The entire expenses including travel fare, tuition fees of the students will also be borne by the state government.  

30 percent award marked for girl students 

Bhati informed that scholarship will be provided for undergraduate-level courses only for the study of subjects related to humanities. Every year, out of 200 meritorious students, 30 percent award will be made available to 60 girl students, keeping the award for girl students. Applicants must be admitted to the relevant foreign institutions before applying for the scholarship. Under this scheme, preference will be given to the candidates having a family income of less than 8 lakh per year. 

The scholarship will be available in these subjects

College Commissioner Sandesh Nayak, while giving information about the subjects covered under the scheme and the awards related to them, said that 150 for Humanities, Social Science, Agriculture, and Forest Science, Nature and Environmental Science, and Law, 150 for Management and Business Administration and Economics and Finance. Scholarships will be given to 25 students and 25 students for pure science and public health subjects. In case of vacancy in these subjects, a scholarship can be given to a maximum of 15 candidates in Engineering and Related Science, Medicine and Applied Science.
