US Military Assistance To Ukraine: The war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Ukraine is constantly demanding modern weapons from the US to compete with Russian troops. Meanwhile, America has announced to send military aid of $ 725 million to Ukraine. The State Department and the Pentagon announced Friday that the United States will send an additional $725 million in military aid to Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden announced aid to Ukraine in a memorandum on October 14. The package is expected to include munitions and military vehicles.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that this aid is being given in the wake of Russian missile attacks on civilians in Ukraine and atrocities by the Russian military. Blinken said that we have instructed to send $ 725 million worth of weapons and equipment to Ukraine. He claimed that the defenders of Ukraine had pushed back Russian forces and that the US stood with Ukraine.
What did the US Defense Secretary say?
The Defense Department said in a separate statement that this package includes more ammunition for the HIMARS rocket system. Earlier, during the war in Ukraine, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday (October 12) that we are committed to sending weapons to Ukraine. Plans to send more air defense weapons to Ukraine and train the Ukrainian military were also discussed in a meeting with about 50 defense leaders this week.
America will give more modern weapons to Ukraine
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that Ukraine still needs long-range weapons, air defense systems and artillery as well as many more weapons. The US has already given 20 Advanced Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). The US will give Ukraine the first two National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), which the Zelensky government had been demanding for a long time. Total US military aid to Ukraine has reached $18.3 billion since the beginning of the Biden administration.
