The commission had invited online applications for these posts on February 6 and March 20 this year. 295 applications were received for the post of Joint Secretary, 1247 for the post of Director, and 489 for the post of Deputy Secretary.
Union Public Service Commission has shortlisted 31 experts from the private sector for direct recruitment to the posts of Joint Secretary, Director, and Deputy Secretary. Among the people selected, 3 have been selected for the post of Joint Secretary, 19 for the post of Director, and 9 for the post of Deputy Secretary. Union Minister of State for Personnel Department Jitendra Singh said that this is a big step towards bringing the right people to the right place. These recruitments have been done for the post of Joint Secretary, Director, and Deputy Secretary in various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. DoPT had requested the Commission on 14 December 2020 and 12 February 2021 to select suitable people for direct recruitment to these posts.
Out of these, 231 candidates were shortlisted for interviews,s and interviews were held on 27 September and 8 October. Finally, the commission has selected 31 candidates for these posts. The recruitment of Joint Secretaries will be done in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
