The T20 World Cup 2022 has started on Australian soil from 16 October. In this episode, a total of seven matches, including a semi-final, are to be played at the historic Adelaide Oval. The match between India and Bangladesh will also be played on this ground on November 2. Whereas hosts Australia will also face Afghanistan on this historic ground after two days.

As the name suggests, the shape of this ground is oval, due to which the square boundary is quite large. This stadium has a seating capacity of more than 53 thousand spectators. The Indian team played the only T20 International match against Australia at this ground in the year 2016, in which the ‘Men in Blue’ won by 37 runs. Overall, a total of 5 T20 International matches have been played at the Adelaide Oval.
The Adelaide Oval pitch is considered good for batting. The average score of the teams batting first in the five T20 Internationals played here is more than 181. Spinners also get help here and they have taken more than three hundred wickets in all T20Is, which is the most at any ground in Australia. On the occasion of ‘Australia Day’, the Kangaroo team plays an ODI match at the Adelaide Oval on 26 January.

India’s Virat Kohli has scored a total of 5 centuries in all formats at the Adelaide Oval. This is the most centuries by Kohli on any ground. If seen, India has played 29 matches at the Adelaide Oval including all formats, in which it has won 12. In 2020, the Indian team was packed on 36 runs against Australia at this ground. In the year 2012, an ODI match between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie. In 2015, the first ever Pink Ball Test was played between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval.
