The T20 World Cup 2022 is to be played between India and Pakistan on 23 October. On Monday (October 17), about six days before this match, Mohammed Shami and Pakistani bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi met each other. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shared a video on Twitter, in which Shaheen Afridi is praising the Indian fast bowler.
Shaheen Afridi says in this video, ‘I have been following you ever since I started bowling. Your wrist position and seam do not respond. In response, Shami said, ‘If the release point (time to release the ball) becomes good, then the seam will also be fine.’
Shami took the ball in the 20th over in the warm-up match against Australia and took three wickets to give India a six-run victory. The same Pakistan had lost to England in another warm-up match by six wickets. Shaheen Afridi could not take any wicket in that match. Mohammed Shami was not included in India’s original squad for the T20 World Cup, but he was included in the team after Jasprit Bumrah was injured.
By the way, 32-year-old Mohammed Shami was part of the squad for the home series against Australia last month. But he had to drop out after testing positive for Kovid-19. Due to not fully recovering from Kovid-19, he could not even be part of the T20 series against South Africa. Now hope has been raised from Shami for a good performance in the World Cup.
Such is the record of Shami
Mohammed Shami has played 60 Tests, 82 ODIs and 17 T20 matches for India so far. Mohammed Shami has 216 Test wickets, 152 ODI wickets and 18 T20 wickets in his name. Mohammed Shami has an average of 27.45 in Tests, which can be said to be very good. Whereas in One Day International, he takes wickets at an average of 25.72. Although his average in T20 International is 31.55, which cannot be said to be that good.
Afridi returning from injury
Talking about Shaheen Afri, he is making a comeback after injury. Shaheen injured his right knee while fielding during the Galle Test against Sri Lanka a few months back. Due to this injury, Shaheen Afridi was advised rest for 4-6 weeks. Later Shaheen Afridi went to London for treatment.
