New Delhi: Pakistan batsman Shan Masood will be appointed as the new Yorkshire captain for next year. County coach Ottis Gibson said on Wednesday that he has revealed future plans for the batsman. Speaking to reporters at Headingley, Gibson said the Pakistani batsman, on a two-year contract from Derbyshire, will lead the county in all competitions next summer.
“The conversation we’ve had with Shaan is that he’s going to be the club’s captain going forward,” Gibson said. He further added- “The players know that Shaan is going to be the captain of the club and he will bring his own style of leadership.” However, it is not yet clear whether the Pakistani batsman will take Yorkshire to a Division One or Division Two campaign next summer.
good experience from the county
The 32-year-old has been named in both the squads for the T20 World Cup and the England series. He seems to be performing well against England. Speaking to media persons at the National Stadium in Karachi earlier this month, Masood had said that he had got a lot of experience from county cricket.
Shan Masood has been included in Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Masood has got a place in the team in place of Fakhar Zaman. Masood said, I think playing county in England was a big step before the T20 World Cup. And performing in the Pakistan Super League certainly gives a lot of confidence.
