These two cars become India’s safest compact SUV, 5 stars in Global NCAP crash test

New Delhi: These days car companies are placing a lot of emphasis on safety. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of the Central Government is also serious about the safety features in cars. The safety of the cars is checked through the ‘Global Encap Crash Test’. Big news has come out about the increasing trend and safety features of SUV cars in India.

Skoda’s Kushaq and Volkswagen’s Taigun SUVs have become the latest SUVs in India to achieve a five-star rating in the Global Encap. The Volkswagen Tiagon and Skoda Kushak have emerged as the safest compact SUVs for Indian roads.

5 stars after crash test

Both the SUVs scored 5 stars after the Global NCAP crash test. The Taigun and Kushaq SUVs were launched in India within two months last year. These are the first two made-in-India SUVs from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India. Both the SUVs have got a five-star rating in the crash test. The Kushak and Taigan are manufactured near Pune, Maharashtra. The Kushaq and Taigun join Mahindra’s elite list of XUV700 and XUV300. Apart from this, the Nexon and Punch from Tata Motors are the only SUVs in India to have achieved a high safety rating in the Global NCAP.

The Tigon and Kushak are the first two cars in India to be tested by GlobalNCAP under its new crash test protocol. The new rules included frontal and side impact protection assessments, ESC and pedestrian safety standards. Both the SUVs tested had Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard feature.

Better for the safety of adults and children

According to the crash test results, both Taigun and Kushak showed stable structural in frontal impact, good enough protection for adults and good side impact. Overall, Kushak and Taigun scored about 30 out of 34 in Adult Occupant Protection and 42 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection. This means that these cars are much better for the safety of adults and children aboard.

Volkswagen Tigon comes with safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), multi-collision braking, rear parking distance control, hill hold control, 3-point seat belts.
