New Delhi: The FIFA U-17 World Cup has started in India. On Tuesday, the match between India and USA women’s team was played at the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha. In the opening match of the tournament, the Indian team lost 0-8 to America.
The Indian team had faced five goals after the first half. The team conceded three more goals in the second half and suffered their biggest defeat at this stage. Their previous worst defeat was against South Korea. The only positive for the Indian team was to keep USA away for the final 30 minutes of play after scoring an eighth goal in the 62nd minute. The USA team was technically much better. USA put themselves ahead by scoring three more goals in the second season.

Hosting India for the second time
Earlier in 2017 the Under-17 Men’s World Cup was played on the grounds of India. This time 4 matches will be played in a day under the Women’s World Cup. The final match will be played on 30 October. This tournament will last for 20 days.
There will be 10 matches in Navi Mumbai, 16 in Goa and 6 in Bhubaneswar in three cities of India.
The final match will be held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Both the semi-finals will be held at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. 16 teams are divided into 4 groups. India, USA, Morocco and Brazil are in Group A while Germany, Nigeria, Chile and New Zealand are in Group B. Whereas Spain, Colombia, Mexico and China are in Group-C, the last Group-C includes teams from Japan, Tanzania, Canada and France.
