Thanks to the brilliant innings of all-rounder Irfan Pathan, India Legends defeated Australia Legends on Thursday to make it to the final of the Road Safety World Series. Pathan played the role of a finisher for the troubled India Legends and scored an unbeaten 39, which included four sixes and two fours. In particular, he hit Australia’s legendary Dirk Nance for a six in the 17th over, followed by three more sixes in the 19th over of the match. With just one run needed off the last five balls, Pathan ended the match by hitting Australia’s great fast bowler Brett Lee for a boundary at midwicket.
India Legends captain Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to congratulate the players on the victory. He tweeted, “Great effort from Team India. Great job yesterday in tough conditions. Special mention to Naman Ojha and Irfan Pathan for today’s innings. Stay strong!”
