New Delhi, Online Desk. The statement made by the Secretary of the Cricket Board of India, Jay Shah, regarding the Asia Cup 2023, has gained a lot of attention and many former cricketers of this country including the Pakistan Cricket Board have also given their reaction on it. Jay Shah had said that we will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and will try to play this tournament at a neutral venue. After his statement, there was a stir in Pakistan and the PCB threatened to leave the membership of the ACC till he would not play in the ODI World Cup in India next year.
Now former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram gave his reaction on Jay Shah’s statement regarding Asia Cup 2023. Akram believes that if Jay Shah was to make such a statement, he should have contacted PCB chairman Rameez Raja directly. At the same time, Akram also justified the statement given by the Pakistan Cricket Board on this matter. Talking to A-Sports, Akram said that PCB has given a tremendous statement. India cannot dictate how Pakistan will play cricket and cricket in Pakistan also started after 10-15 years.
Wasim Akram further said that I am a former cricketer and sports person. I don’t know what is going on on the political front, but contact with each other is necessary. Jai Shah sahib if you had anything to say, you would have at least contacted our chairman or held a meeting of the Asian Council. You would give your idea and it would be discussed. You cannot say in such a way that we cannot go to Pakistan. Pakistan was given the hosting of Asia Cup 2023 by the Asian Council.
